Little Free Library
Reading is fundamental. It’s a saying that you’ve probably heard, maybe even said, a couple of times from your parents or teacher, but never really thought about it much. I mean, why would you? It was simply their way of getting you to read, which you probably didn’t want to do at the time. Unless you had access to some of the best books like J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, Twilight by Stephenie Meyers, or maybe the Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth. And, let’s face it, if you were reading anything by Stephen King at any point in your life, you were reading some of the best books. Unfortunately, Americans, on average, now read six minutes less per day, with our reading time continually decreasing each year. While that number may seem small and obsolete, six minutes a day translates to missing out on a full month of reading in twenty years, but Charlie Foster’s is here to save the day with our Little Free Library.
Maybe you’ve been lucky enough to have one of these bad boys in your neighborhood somewhere, but if not, let us explain what it is. Little Free Library is exactly what the name entails; it is a library full of free books. You come in, grab a book that sparks your interest and read it. You are free to take it with you, without the hassle of checking it out. And, the best part, you can read it for as long as you need without having to worry about late return fees. The Little Free Library is kind of like a BOGO except it would be more like TOGO (Take One, Give One). If you have any old books lying around, bring them in to replace books and keep the library going. By donating or exchanging books, you keep the library interesting and fun with new options to intrigue other readers.
Reading improves comprehension, vocabulary, brain connection and, our personal favorite, reduces stress. Imagine it. You, a smooth, delicious cup of Charlie Foster’s coffee, and Delia Owens’, Where the Crawdads Sing: a hauntingly beautiful story that contains betrayal, romance, murder and growth. Can’t you just feel the stress dissipating already?
Charlie Foster’s is excited to be a part of Little Free Library, a non-profit organization. By having our own free library, we are helping them achieve their mission to build communities, expand book access for all, and inspire readers.
Our Little Free Library is open when we’re open! Monday-Friday 7AM to 7PM, and Saturday-Sunday 8:30AM to 7PM. Show up, order a coffee, grab a book from our Charlie Foster’s Little Free Library and take a seat. We can’t wait to see what page turning adventures you’ll discover and bring in.
